This former village of woodcutters, today a recreational resort, is located in the Šumava Protected Landscape Area at the upper end of Lipno Reservoir, at the altitude of 727-912 metres above see level. The administration of Nová Pec covers the settlements of Bělá, Jelení and Pěkná and local quarters of Nová Pec, Nové Chalupy, Dlouhý Bor and Láz.
