Vatětice (German name Wattetitz) used to be an important center village, now it is a small and almost extinct settlement, which has come to life again in recent years. Vatětice is 3 km from Hartmanice.

The first written mention of Vatětice dates from 1540. In 1644 (that is, one hundred years later) there is mention of a castle (fortress), manor farm, mill and sawmill.

Around 1740 (that is, another hundred years later), a brewery, a pub, a sheepfold, a paper mill, and a glass factory near Wunderbach operated in Vatětice.

At the beginning of the 18th century, the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was built in Vatětice.

In 1832, Vatětice was bought by Emanuel Müller. The manor farm prospered and farmed in three yards – Vatětice, Palvinov and Štěpanice. In the middle of the 19th century, the seat of the farm moved to nearby Palvinov. Since 1853, a distillery has been operating in the village.

From 1850, Vatětice had the status of an independent municipality with its own mayor and council. The neighboring villages of Nové Městečko, Velký Radkov, Rajsko with the church of St. Morice, the solitude of Wunderbach and Annín.

The Müller family owned the manor from 1832 until 1945, when it was confiscated on the basis of the Beneš decrees and passed under national administration. The post-war removal of the vast majority of the original inhabitants hit the region hard.

Between 1945 and 1950, the Vatětice castle was demolished, and in the 1970s, the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was also demolished. The brewery and distillery served as a stable for cattle, farm buildings gradually fell into disrepair, many residential buildings turned into a pile of rubble.

In 1900, Vatětice had 91 inhabitants (mostly of German nationality), in 2001 only 5 inhabitants.

In 2011, Prague businessman Jakub Vinčálek bought the area of the estate, who began gradual renovation.

In September 2017, the rebuilt chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was consecrated. The original material from the chapel was partly used for its construction, which was collected in the local pond.

The interior of the chapel houses a glass altar from the workshop of the famous glass artist Vladěna Tesařová, who lives in nearby Dobrá Voda. Occasional masses and events are celebrated in the chapel.

Vatětice are gradually coming to life. According to the server rozhlas.cz, Mrs. Renata Roither from the Müller family, who grew up in Vatětice and whose family owned the farm until 1945, spoke highly of the transformation of Vatětice.

large number of memorial trees grow in the vicinity of Vatětice.
